For those of us who endeavor to follow Jesus, pride is sin. If you are like me and struggle with pride, I offer this prayer.

[featured-image single_newwindow=”false”]

Father, I have spoken of things beyond my understanding, things too wonderful for me to know.

I have acted, not from love of you, but from fear for my own self preservation.

Bending to your will is so hard for me. Forgive me.

Jesus, I have not allowed your perfect love to rid me of fear.

A sense of superiority leeches onto me, suffocating your peace. The dark shadow of “me” has battered against the brilliance of your light.

Following you requires more of my own silence. Forgive me.

Spirit, I have not been the servant of all.

My sense of rightness and flawed pursuit of clarity leave little room for you to move.

Embracing your Kingdom requires my full devotion.  Forgive me.

In the name of the Holy Three – Father, Son, Spirit – I bow, I yield, I repent.

Let it be so.

Amen.
